Meet our Coaches

Jim Deline

Following a distinguished 40-year career in elementary physical education, Jim "retired" to spread NASP archery throughout central Texas. Jim introduced NASP archery to his Highland Park Elementary School students in 2014. What started as a simple physical education curriculum unit in 2014 ignited a movement that currently impacts 500+ archers representing 15 Austin area schools.

He has coached elementary and middle coached teams to 14 State Championships and 6 National Championships. He was honored to receive the Texas Parks & Wildlife State Coach of the Year in 2021, and the NASP Coach of the Year in 2022. He was selected to present at the NASP National Educator & Coach Conference in 2025. Jim currently coaches NASP at the elementary and middle school levels and serves as the Chief Coaching Officer of Bat City Archery, a non-profit organization dedicated to getting more bows in more kids' hands throughout central Texas.

Honor and championships aside, the most profound trophy is the impact he has seen NASP have on kids, schools, and communities. To quote Jim, "The NASP program is a tribute to what can happen when everyone comes together on behalf of kids. NASP is the centerpiece that helps us cultivate not just skilled archers, but poised young people with an outstanding work ethic, focus, and a compassion that extends far beyond the archery range."
